Final SturNet training sessions for fishers held in Burgas

Fishing communities contribute to sturgeon conservation

On 22 October 2026, the final two SturNet training sessions for members of the fishing community took place in the Komluka and Sarafovo areas of Burgas, Bulgaria.

Both sessions attracted strong interest and active participation. Local fishers shared practical experience and discussed issues related to sturgeon conservation in the Black Sea.

The sessions introduced SturNet’s digital tools and the opportunities they offer for submitting reports, exchanging information and taking joint action to protect these endangered species.

These events concluded the training series organised by the Protection of Biodiversity in Bulgaria Foundation with the assistance of OPIMOS Association. We thank all participants across the series for their interest, active involvement and shared experience.

SturNet is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021–2027.
