The use of sturgeon data in the work of competent authorities will be the focus of an upcoming SturNet training in Burgas. The Protection of Biodiversity in Bulgaria Foundation, the project coordinator, organises the training with the support of OPIMOS. The practical session focuses on tools that connect observations, citizen reports and institutional oversight.

Working with the platform and mobile application

The session will open with an introduction to SturNet and a demonstration of the web platform, followed by practical work with the mobile application. A separate part will examine acoustic telemetry and the interpretation of sturgeon tracking data.

Further topics will cover hotspot visualisation, escalation procedures for high-risk cases and access to sensitive data according to users’ permissions. The programme also addresses the connection between citizen reports and institutional oversight, a relevant issue when using information about species and their habitats in practice.

The closing discussion will give participants an opportunity to ask questions and consider how the tools presented could be applied in their work.
