You know the sea and the river best. Help us protect sturgeon! On 20, 21 and 22 October 2026, five training sessions with a cause for fishers and members of fishing communities will take place in Tsarevo, Primorsko, Sozopol and Burgas (the Komluka and Sarafovo districts).

Sturgeon are severely endangered, and fishers are often the first to see what is happening in the water. As part of the SturNet project, the Protection of Biodiversity in Bulgaria Foundation, with the support of the association “OPIMOS”, will show how your observations can become part of a shared effort to protect them — simply and in practice.
What you will learn
- how the SturNet map and mobile app work;
- how to submit a report from the field, with a hands-on demonstration;
- what the “hotspots” on the map show, and what the sturgeon tracking data looks like;
- what role fishers play in the early-warning system;
- how fishing practices and sturgeon conservation can go hand in hand.
